The transformation of the Burgh Hall is being founded on a practical and ambitious strategy to be delivered in stages.
Stage 1
The first stage of the project has been to bring the Hall back into use. By committing £75,000 to the project, the Trust has been able to kick-start the project, funding surveys, essential building work, such as roof repairs, plumbing, heating and electrical work, the replacement of windows, dry rot and wet rot remedial works, fire-proofing to the boiler room; cleaning and decorating, whilst also developing strategies for the building's future use.
Stage 2
Work is now underway to seek funds, achieve planning and listed building approvals and phase construction works for the transformation of the Hall into a community arts centre, with all work scheduled for completion by 2012. Over the next 3 years, as repair work is carried out on the Hall, it will continue to develop its cultural and community programme and remain open to serve the needs of the people of Dunoon and Cowal.
