Youth STUFF @ The Burgh Hall was formed in September 2010 to provide affordable and accessible quality arts experiences for local children and young people. With an original membership of 30 children and young people and a committed production team, Youth STUFF performed the Wizard of Oz in the Burgh Hall in December 2010. The cast and production team faced any number of challenges but for every problem a solution was found and despite a very small budget and a chilly Winter, Youth STUFF created an original and very professional version of this much-loved musical.
Youth STUFF’s performance was the first theatre performance in the hall for three decades and the first youth theatre performance in the town for nearly a decade. Youth STUFF’s production enchanted the whole community with superb hand-made costumes and scenery designed and created by local talent.
Membership has recently grown to over 50 youth members and Youth STUFF has started work on a new project – a devised production which will explore the arrival of the American naval personnel to Dunoon 50 years ago. For many of our young people this is a forgotten era but the Americans bought all kinds of cultural influences with them and shaped the town as we know it today. This performance will include original music as well as original script and will be performed in the Burgh Hall this coming June.
